Pray for Peace in the Middle East

RE: Justice and Peace Sunday – 21 September 2014

Greetings from the Justice and Peace office at Khanya House and trust that this communication find you in peace.

I’m writing to you to request you that the focus for this year’s Justice & Peace Sunday be on promoting ‘A week of Prayer for lasting Peace in the Middle East’, from 21 – 27 September 2014.  This is in line with implementing the resolution taken by our bishops at the August Plenary Session in Mariannhill, 2014.  We had witnessed many deaths especially of children and women in that region and we should humbly ask our God for his mercy for lasting peace to prevail.  We have attached a brochure as a guide on what could be done and have printed hard copies to be given out to parishes through your diocesan offices.  This is a broad campaign of churches internationally, and is supported by the World Council of Churches too.

We encourage everyone to be creative as a parish in your participation during the week of prayer as we too need God’s grace in the challenges we face daily.  We are because of others and we’re one another’s strength.

We encourage you to visit our website: and click ‘iPray’, for more prayers and reflections.

We trust that we’ll continue praying for peace throughout the world even after this special week of prayer.

Kind regards,

Fr Stan Muyebe
