The burglary and desecration of the Cathedral has shocked and hurt many people. The Cathedral is considered the “mother church” not only of Cape Town but of Southern Africa. Although it seems clear that the motivation was burglary and not desecration as such, we will follow a process of reparation. Bishop Sylvester has sent out a letter in this regard and has called on parishioners of the entire Archdiocese to say the prayers of reparation.
