Synod Implementation Training

Synod implementation training takes place at St Anthony’s, Langa, on Saturday, 12 February 2022

https://forms.gle/UarDYuUoyrwpQ7Ed6

Two members from each parish (perhaps the parish priest/ parish administrator himself and a parish synod coordinator, or a PPC chairperson and a parish synod coordinator) are asked to attend this training. All deacons of the archdiocese are invited over and above those already mentioned.

Apart from being guided through an actual synod discussion process, suggestions for the training of group facilitators and scribes in parishes will be given and material will be distributed.

The intention is that the parish synod coordinator will direct the parish process logistically, arrange training of facilitators and scribes, and be the visible face of the process in the parish.

The theme will focus on one main question: A synodal Church, in announcing the Gospel, “journeys together.” How is this “journeying together” happening today in your local Church? What steps does the Spirit invite us to take in order to grow in our journeying together”?” (Vademecum 5.3 and also in Preparation Document, 26)

The day starts with registration at 08:30 and will conclude at 12:00. Please use the following link to register by 7 February for the synod implementation training on 12 February 2022:

Archdiocesan Theology Course 2023

Dear Bishops, Priests, Deacons and PPC Chairpersons

The Archdiocesan Theology Course will begin again in February 2023. This will be Year Two of the three-year cycle of theology lectures in the programme, which in its totality aims to give a grounding in the fundamentals of Catholic Theology. Participants are welcome to start the course in any year of the three-year cycle.

The series of lectures is outlined below. These lectures will be offered via Zoom again this year.

This course is aimed at those who are involved in parish ministry, particularly Catechism and RCIA teaching, but it is also suited for those involved in the different aspects of the Liturgy and those who assist in pastoral work such as counselling, marriage preparation and baptism preparation. The course is also ideal for those who are seeking to broaden and deepen their understanding of the Catholic Faith. Those who are at the very beginning stages of discerning a vocation to the permanent diaconate are also encouraged to participate in the course. This course will equip participants for more effective pastoral ministry in their home parishes.

Please promote this course among your fellow parishioners and ask them to register via the Google form link. We look forward to a fruitful and exciting start to the Theology Course in 2023.
