PPC Elections
During the months August – October, we will be having PPC elections in all parishes across the diocese of Cape Town.
It is a process of Awareness, Nominations, Elections and finally the installation of the PPC by November.
There are resources available for all parishes to download from the Parish Alive website at

We learnt a lot from the Conclave election process of our beloved new Pope Leo XIV. We are the church and so our processes are guided by the Holy Spirit. We pray for our elections in each parish, where we too can have our own white smoke signifying the spiritual presence and guidance of the Holy Spirit in our elections.

How does one interpret and use the nomination form? There is place for up to six (6) names on the form, however only one place for a seconder. The seconder may not necessarily support other nominations which the proposer may have in mind. Do we therefore use one nominee per form? We are concerned for spoilt nomination forms.
Existing statutes do not provide for formal listenng by PPC of the experience of parishioners–their needs and observations and difficulties. The net result is a lack of dynamism and expectation in the parish. Perhaps too what the PPC does as a genuine and active part of the parish can seem rather hidden.
